Finalists of the “Internet Republic” Programme second edition
UNDP and TP Group Foundation announced list of 100 grant recipients from the second edition of the “Internet Republic” Programme. 10 grants at the total value of 30 000 PLN and 90 grants of 15 000 PLN will give local communities a chance to implement their ideas. 17.09.2007
The Baseline Study on CSR launched
The Baseline Study on CSR Practices in the New EU Member States and Candidate Countries, prepared within the UNDP and the European Commission project, was just presented in Brussels. The study presents the regional context of CSR and summarizes CSR achievements in 8 European countries, including Poland. Poland represented at Global Compact Summit in Geneva

Building on the succes of project implemnented in Kamienna Góra in the framework of Global Compact
The new project has been started in Pieńsk (near Zgorzelec) by UNDP Poland an the Glass-works LUCYNA Janusz Nowakowski (www.lucyna.com) The main aim of the project is to elaborate the concept of management of the premises of the historical glass-works in Pieńsk near Zgorzelec for tourist purposes. Currently, the audit of local heritage is taking place. The implementation of the project is based on the succes of the project implmented in Kamienna Góra between 2004 and 2005. 30.01.2006
Global Compact patronage on Academy of Entrepreneurship
From January 2006, the Academy of Entrepreneurship (www.akademia.biz.pl), which is the project sponsored by the Telekomunikacja Polska (www.tp.pl), enjoys the patronage of the Global Compact initiative (www.globalcompact.org). One of the activities undertaken by the Academy is leading "The Talks About Good Business Practices". In the framework of "The Talks..", the entrepreneurs discuss with one another and also with invited NGOs, media etc. the way they do business in Poland in socially responsible manner. 30.01.2006
"Grant Fund for Plock" Foundation established
Partners of the project supporting local development in Plock signed an agreement which establishes a Foundation "Grant Fund for Plock". The newly created institution will continue the work of the Grant Fund for Plock. The agreement was signed by Miroslaw Milewski, President of the City of Plock, Hartmut Lueker, Chairman of the Basell Orlen Polyolefins company, Karol Sep, Board Member of the company as well as representatives of the PKN Orlen company - Jan Maciejewski, Vice-president and Dariusz Witkowski, Board Member. The ceremony followed statements of the founders. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the City Council, non-governmental and civil society organisation, particularly the Fund Steering Committee members. 21.12.2005

UNDP develops a new website of Global Compact in Poland
New Global Compact website was developed recently by UNDP Poland. The main aim of the site is popularize the Global Compact, the idea of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and to ensure transparency of Global Compact Steering Committee activities in Poland. The editorial office invites companies, NGOs and media to work on enrichment of the website and to cooperate with UNDP in the field of CSR.

Kronenberg Foundation and UNDP announced a Microentrepreneurship of the Year contest
Leopold Kronenberg Foundation (representative of Citigroup Foundation) and UNDP are announcing a contest "Microentrepreneur of the Year", which aims at promoting microentrepreneurship in Poland as an effective tool in fighting unemployment and poverty. The third run of the Grant Fund for Plock has been announced on November 8
This time not only the non-governmental organizations are entitled to apply but also the informal pupil and student groups willing to create some social projects on their own. These projects, which will be implementing the 8 Priorities of the Sustainable Development in Plock, might be awarded up to 40 000 PLN (app. 12,000 USD). There is 600 000 PLN in total available in the third run. 10.11.2004
The First CIFAL Centre in Eastern Europe
The town of Plock is the first one in Eastern Europe to become part of the International Training Centre for Local Authorities/Actors, CIFAL (Centre International de Formation des Autorites/Acteurs Locaux). On 29 June 2004, Marcel A. Boisard, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), officially opened the CIFAL centre in Plock, in the presence of Miroslaw Milewski, President of Plock; Colin Glennie, the United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative, representatives of the Foundation for Sustainable Development of European Regions; and representatives of Veolia Environment, Dexia, Alcatel, and PKN Orlen. 19.07.2004
Second edition of the Fund for Plock for 320,000 USD
On 15 April Miroslaw Milewski, President of the City of Plock, officially launched the second edition of the Fund for Plock, a unique public-private undertaking. 1,1 million PLN fund for development of Płock
The May 6th signing of a new public-private partnership promises to channel 1,1 million PLN (c/a USD 275,000) to the sustainable development of the City of Plock. This “Small Grants Fund for Plock” marks a commitment to sustainable development by the local government and by the Polish oil company PKN Orlen – the country’s largest company. 09.05.2003
Trust Fund for Plock
On March 31 representatives of UNDP, the City of Plock and PKN Orlen, signed the preliminary agreement on creating a Trust Fund for Plock.
