UNDP in Poland

UNDP Project Office in Warsaw is one of 166 UNDP offices around the world. Its primary role is to implement and coordinate elements of UNDP regional activities in Poland, as well as projects financed by the European Social Fund. UNDP Project Office in Warsaw is technically a part of Bratislava Regional Centre http://europeandcis.undp.org/.

UNDP actions in Poland concentrate on implementation of Social Innovation in Europe and CIS programme, which aims at boosting regional exchange of know-how in Europe and CIS in the fields of social innovation and Millennium Development Goals. Hence, the implementation of Project Office’s projects is followed by their transfer to partners in developing countries in a form of ready-made models.

UNDP Project Office in Poland implements following projects:

  • Social Economy – Integrated Support System for Social Economy: the project’s target is to create sustainable support infrastructure for Social Economy. Social enterprises, coalitions and partnerships will be created in order to maximize social benefits and support economic independence of people at risk of social exclusion. Within the project, Social Economy Regional Centre in Lublin has been created, covering the area of voivodeships: Podlaskie, Lubelskie and Podkarpackie.
     
     
  • CEKIN – Enhancement of key entrepreneurial capacities among agricultural schools students in Poland. The project’s aim is to enhance students’ and teachers’ abilities to become more enterprising and innovative, and capable of planning enterprises in a way that would allow them to live up to the requirements of modern economy and to ensure sustainable development of rural areas.
     
     
  • Centre for Contemporary India Research and Studies – the project’s target is to intensify academic cooperation between Poland and India as well as to implement an MA course in Contemporary India Studies at University of Warsaw.
     
     
  • 4 steps – integrated support for the deaf in Labor Market: this Project’s purpose is to support the deaf in labor market through a series of trainings, internships and workshops, introducing them into social and professional environment. The project also aims at creating a network of innovative social enterprises (café-bookstores) which will employ the project participants.

 
UNDP Project Office in Warsaw coordinates the activities of the Global Compact Initiative which promotes Corporate Social Responsibility (www.globalcompact.org.pl).

UNDP Project Office in Warsaw is part of the UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre.
